Abandonment

I was looking back over some of my posts recently and I looked back at this picture.

This is a picture of the walk with Christ. Totally trusting Him with everything. The excitement in my face in this picture is evident.

Living a life for Christ is terrifying sometimes. But completely letting go of yourself, abandoning self, is what He calls us to.

The day this picture was taken I was scared. I had the harness on and knew I was safe. I had been working this swing all summer long. I knew how the swing worked, the harness and I trusted my coworkers. Just like we can know what the Christian life looks like. How to act and talk we know it. But I was still afraid to take this "step". They pulled me to the top of the swing and I had to make that choice to let go and swing. Letting go was hard but as soon as I did it I was rewarded with the excitement, the adrenaline. But then I had to make another choice and I only had one chance. Was I going to flip and go upside down? Another "step". I took this step again I flipped, and again was rewarded.

And then they all yelled for me to let go. Let go. Let go. God calls us to let go. Let Him.

This is what God has been teaching me recently. Abandon myself and put all my doubts and questions in His hands.

Let go. He will reward your trust in Him.

"You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You." Isaiah 26:3
